Nigel Knowles is Labour Councillor for Franche

Nigel is the WFDC Labour and Co-operative Party Councillor for Franche Ward. He is married to Jennifer and they have a daughter and son living in Worcestershire. Nigel has previously served on Hereford and Worcester County Council, and Worcestershire County Council. He served on WFDC for 12 years until 2002.
He is a former Kidderminster carpet weaver and Trade Union Education Officer in London, serving on Haringey Council between 1982 – 1987.

Nigel has contested eight Parliamentary seats at General Elections for Labour, including twice in Wyre Forest. He has an Honours Degree in Politics, Certificate of Education, and has written and published twenty two books on various subjects including plays, fiction and history. His interests include – theatre; watching the Harriers; travel, history, politics and economics, and the NHS. Nigel is a volunteer at Kidderminster Hospital and sells poppies each year for the British Legion in Bewdley and Kidderminster.
