I have lived in Kidderminster well over 30 years and my family has been raised here, going to local schools.
I am a consulting civil engineer and have been involved in the design of many major construction projects locally and throughout the Midlands.
My priorities are fighting to protect services for you, challenging the draconian changes to the NHS which the majority of people neither understand nor want, campaigning against the £10.5m Tory Towers new Council HQ and raising standards in education.
Two budgets and dramatic cuts to services have left everyone reeling and ordinary people hundreds of pounds a year worse off due to.
• VAT increase
• Winter fuel allowance cut – announcement hidden in documents
• Cuts to many benefits, including disability and housing
• Freeze in child benefit and loss of baby support payment
• Increase in National Insurance payments by employees
I support the proposed alternative Labour Council budget which would have scrapped the new HQ and provided new social housing that is desperately needed, employing local tradesmen and built small business starter units to encourage new firms.
As the Chair of Governors at a local Primary school, I have seen the chaos of the constant changes to new school provision by the Tories and the pressure teachers are under to deliver continuing improvement..
Many young people and their families will be greatly disadvantaged by the Tory / LibDem government trebling student fees and scrapping the Educational Maintenance Allowance, which was introduced by Labour to help young people stay in education.
